Exparel injection
- Research has not shown exparel to be any better than other cocktail injections for post-operative joint replacement pain. (Noviasky J, Hosp Pharm 2014;49(6):539–543)
- Exparel is expensive and has not demonstrated clinical evidence of decreased pain in joint procedures thus far.
Exparel Alternative Cocktail injection
- Bupivacaine 0.5% with Epi 30mL
- Morphine 8mg
- Ketorolac 30mg
- Dispensed in total volume of 60mL
