Arcade of Struthers

arcade of struthers
  •  Thin aponeurotic band extending from medial head of tirceps to the medial intermuscular septum

  • Approximately 8 cm proximal to the medial epicondyle

  • Present in 70-80% of individuals
  •
May become point of kinking following anterior transposition of ulnar nerve
  • Observation of ulnar nerve entrapment associated with a midshaft humeral fracture and subsequent anatomic dissections led to the term “Arcade of Struthers" which is different than the Ligament of Struthers described in 1848.  (DeJesus R, J Hand Surg 2003;28A:528-531)
